Cornelia has a degree in Psychology from Auburn University and years of experience teaching quilting, appliqué, design, and fabric dyeing. She also taught English Smocking, French Hand Sewing, heirloom sewing, and other needle-arts related classes in her Coral Springs, Fla. smocking and French hand sewing shop, Lavender and Lace. Her love of teaching lead to six years as a middle school life science teacher in Fayette Co., Ga. She continues an active real estate career while designing quilt patterns and limited lectures and workshops.
Cornelia's interest in designing and creating original art quilts, fabric dyeing, and painting, and realistic appliqué combined with a love of nature has led to a line of quilting patterns. Several of these scientifically authentic designs of animals and landscapes are now or have been carried by Quilts & Other Comforts, Keepsake Quilting, Clotilde, and others as well as shops from coast to coast around the US and Canada, the Caribbean, France and New Zealand. Many of the patterns are meant to raise awareness of ecologically sensitive areas and endangered species.
